My Personal Creed

(John's high school English teacher assigned all of the students in his class to write a paper on their personal creeds. John reported that she was NOT happy with what John wrote…).

My Creed is no creed at all
This is my spring
Wait for the fall
To show the creed
of the man
Now on the mall.

In John's memoirs, he reports that 40 years after writing that, he ran across this line from the poet, William Blake: "In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy."
